"Dylan"

If you like a lot of sloppy kisses, many wet body shakes, and big dirty paws, then a Newfie is for you. This is Dylan, our 10 year old Newfoundland. When Dylan was younger, he loved to play with the big plush squeakie toys. If any of the toys happened to be taken outside by one of the other dogs, Dylan always made sure that he brought it back inside. One day when I was outside, I noticed Dylan coming up from the woods with one of the squeakies in his mouth. I thought it odd that one of the dogs would have taken it that far away from the house. As Dylan got closer, I was praising him as to how well he took care of the squeakies. To my surprise Dylan very gently laid it down in the yard and instead of going to the door, he began to repeatedly lick the squeakie. I went over to see why he was so attentive to that squeakie and what a shock to see that it wasn't a squeakie. Dylan had found a possum! The possum was pretending to be dead so that Dylan would leave but he didn't know Dylan very well! Dylan had appointed himself caretaker for the new "squeakie." Because Dylan was not going to leave that possum willingly, I got a leash and took Dylan back inside. I hoped that the possum could then leave. In about 20 minutes, the possum left, so I figured it was safe to let Dylan back outside. I watched him to see what he would do and he looked as though he had forgotten about his new found friend, so I quit watching. Later that day Dylan went back out to the woods to once again survey the woods for any lost squeakies. Lo and behold he found another and once more I watched him gingerly bring up the long lost treasure and wouldn't you know it was that possum again! Again I brought Dylan into the house and again the possum left. But this time it was bedtime and I figured the possum would finally be safe from Dylan's attention. The next day when Dylan went outside, he diligently went out to the woods and once more found his treasure. I couldn't figure out why that possum wouldn't get the picture and find somewhere else to live! This went on so often that we eventually just named the possum Harold. I don't know whatever happened to Harold but I do know that for several months, Dylan was his new found friend. In fact one day he almost brought Harold in the house! From then on we had to make sure that all squeakies that came back into the house were the ones that belonged there!!

"Barney"

Barney is one of our dogs. Several years ago we found Barney at night huddled behind our gate on our driveway. He had been dropped off during one of those terrible ice/snow events and must have spent the day trying to find a place to get out of the cold, wind, freezing rain, and snow. God blessed us when he led Barney to our home. Why anyone could have done this to such a wonderful little guy, I'll never understand, but Barney has found a way not only into our lives but into our hearts as well. This is a recollection of one of our early days with Barney.
Today was to be a special "treat" for Barney. I decided that since he was a "preppy" kind of dog, he might like to see himself in the mirror. I picked him up, showed him his reflection in the mirror, Barney spotted the "other dog" and instantly went on the alert to see if the other one might challenge him. He was in a stare stand-off with the other Barney, so I put him down to see what he would do. As soon as he was down, he raced into the bathroom to get that other dog. When he got there, he saw no other dog and so Barney came racing back to the bedroom to see if the dog were there, but to no avail. Then Barney put his paws up on the dresser and peered into the mirror again to see if that dog might have returned. Lo and behold, there he was! Barney raced back into the bathroom and this time he was determined to find that interloper, but once more the other dog escaped. Not to be denied, Barney rushed back to the bedroom, checked out the mirror again, stared more intently at that other dog, seeming to dare that other dog to just make a move.....However, the other dog stood his ground and so Barney once more raced into the bathroom in hopes of surprising his nemesis..... This could have continued all night! I decided to just take Barney into another room for about 5 minutes to see if he might forget about that dog..... Five minutes later, I let Barney out of the room and what did he do???? Yes, he raced into the bedroom, put his paws up on the dresser, saw the offending canine, peered even deeper into his eyes and then raced into the bathroom because this time he was going to win!!! (I guess I shouldn't have introduced Barney to his other self!) I finally took him downstairs and popped him outside to play with some REAL dogs! Later when we were going to bed, I walked into the bedroom and there was Barney peering into that mirror but this time I think he was just checking out his hair-do....because after all he is a preppy kind of dog!!!
All of our years we've spent with Barney have been filled with joy, laughter, games, and of course lots and lots of kisses. Recently we found out that Barney has cancer and what a blow that was.... He's not as energized as he once was but he's still that special little guy that God brought into our lives and I pray that God gives us many more days to hug him, take him on rides, and of course to let him chase down any interlopers into his territory. Barney is a wonderful dog and what a blessing he has been!!!

"Rufus"

Hi. My name is Rufus! I am about 1 1/2 years old. My Mommy found out about me from an ad in the Plain Dealer in May of 2008. She quickly told Daddy about me and he left work early and went to find me. He said he knew I was the one because of my pretty green eyes and the way that I kept trying to climb all over him. I think I have a pretty great life with my Mom and Dad in Uniontown. I have my own fenced-in backyard that has lots of logs and sticks behind the shed for me to chew on and I can even stay out there by myself sometimes. One of my favorite things to do is fetch sticks. I also love to give my Daddy kisses all over his head, and I really love to go swimming @ Bow Wow Beach in Stow. It was nice talking to you, but I gotta go now. There's a bunny in the back yard that I need to chase!

"Annabelle"

|
I'm Annabelle, also known as AB. I'm really a person, stuck in a dog's body. A dog's life
is so much easier. Eat, sleep, poop. What could be better? I was adopted from a pet rescue center about 4 years ago, when I was 5. I
became the center of attention with the Morris family. I pretty much rule the
roost here. I try to keep on the low down, sleeping most of the time. Naps
are interrupted by eating/and or begging and going outside to sniff and
harrass the dog next door who is chained. I stay just far enough away that
when he runs to get me, he gets yanked back. My favorite past time is snatching
his bones and then running home so he can't get me. My vet said I could stand
to slim down a bit, but I think big is beautiful. I love to go for rides with my family in the car- sitting
around the house gets boring. I don't care where you are going, crack the
window and I'll wait patiently until you get back. It really bums me out when
I can't go, so I put on the sad face and mope under the kitchen table til my
family gets back. I definitely have "the life" |

"Parker"
Hello!
My name is Parker.. sort of like Park... but with an -er at the end. I go by many names...Lazy, loafer, chair weight, stoopik...all of which fit..
I don't do much of anything.. when mommy and daddy leave the door open, i sneak in, and lay on their bed all day. i never get up once! I make the trek downstairs once in awhile to eat or poop. otherwise, i am firmly planted. I have a sister, her name is AP. she is one and a half years old. After all this time, I STILL weight more than her. She weighs 20 pounds, and I am 22.. pushing 23.. She gives me my only exercise during the day. if i don't run from her, she tackles me, pulls my whiskers, and pokes my eyes..
I gotta hit it.. my eyes are getting droopy, and a nap awaits!
Congratulations to Parker for being chosen as this months pet.

"Busco"
Hi Everyone. My name is Busco (although I only get called that when I have been naughty, usually I get Bus).
I was adopted from a friend.
My hobbies include helping myselfs to my dads beverages when he?s not looking, hunting imaginary prey around the house and wrestling, going anywhere I'm not supposed to go, climbing on anything and everything, staring at fish while trying to think of ways to eat them, dinner time (or anytime really where food is involved), pushing absolutely everything onto the ground and then just staring at it for a while before pushing something else down.
My personal favorite thing to do is to wait for when mommy wants to go to bed and then run around the house like I?m insane while making as much noise as I possibly can.
Congratulations to Busco for being chosen as this months pet.
